Lt Col Roderick Rowe is an experienced military officer with more than twenty-six (26) years of leadership and managerial experience in the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF). Among his senior appointments in the JDF were Executive Officer of the Support Brigade, Commanding Officer of the JDF Air Wing and Commanding Officer of the Combat Support Battalion, just to name a few.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Technology (UTECH), and a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management from Florida International University (FIU). He is also a registered Professional Engineer and a member of the Jamaican Institution of Engineers.

Lt Col Rowe served as a Director on the Board of Independence Park Limited (IPL) from 2016 – 2020; in addition to twelve years as the Force Hockey Officer in the JDF, where he was responsible for all hockey matters within the military. He was also the architect behind the conceptualization and execution of the Captain Milton Richards Memorial Hockey Tournaments.

Lt Col Rowe represented Munro College in track and field / cross country, football, cricket, and field hockey. He was also a member of the Munro College team that won the 1989 edition of the Under 19 Schoolboy’s Hockey competition.

At the collegiate level, Lt Col Rowe represented the College of Arts, Science and Technology (CAST), [now the University of Technology (UTECH)] in field hockey, and both Munro College Old Boys (MCOB) and the JDF at the club level. He was also a member of Jamaica’s senior men’s team to the 1998 Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Caracas, Venezuela, and Manager to the men’s National Under 21 team to the 2005 Pan American Junior Championships in Havana, Cuba.

Early in his playing career, Lt Col Rowe also had the privilege of playing field hockey in the United Kingdom (UK), where he represented the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst; the British Army Under 23; and the British armed forces ‘Combined Services’ teams. He also earned the Military Academy’s Colours for excellence in both cricket and field hockey.
